John 4.23-24 True worshippers

In consideration of the fact that God is to be the subject and object of worship and His will is to be central to a life of prayer, it followed that a growing disparity can occur when personal worship and corporate worship are misaligned.  The weight of this realization would press down on me to seek out the a liturgical service for corporate worship.  What you will read below are sections of corporate worship that have been instrumental in my spiritual formation, to form a right attitude of heart and mind towards God in personal worship, both in presence and in daily life.  All entries are sourced from the Book of Common Prayer.  May this be a blessing to you on your faith journey.

Gloria

Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God an Father, we worship you. We give you thanks, we praise you for your glory.  Glory to God.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world; Have mercy on us; you are seated at the right hand of the Father: Receive our prayer, receive our prayer.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord. You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father, in the glory of God the Father.  Amen. Amen.

The Breaking of Bread

We do not presume to come to this, your table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in Your abundant and great mercies.  We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table; but you are the same Lord, whose character is always to have mercy.  Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink His blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by His body, and our souls washed through His most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in Him, and He in us. Amen.

The Gifts of God for the people of God.  Take them in remembrance that Christ died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith, with thanksgiving.

Nicene Creed

WE BELIEVE in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen

Confession of Sin Officiant:

Dearly beloved, we have come together in the presence of Almighty God our heavenly Father, to render thanks for the great benefits that we have received at his hands, to set forth his most worthy praise, to hear his holy Word, and to ask, for ourselves and on behalf of others, those things that are necessary for our life and our salvation. And so that we may prepare ourselves in heart and mind to worship him, let us kneel in silence, and with penitent and obedient hearts confess our sins, that we may obtain forgiveness by his infinite goodness and mercy.

Corporate Confession of Sin Prayer

Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done and what we have left undone.  We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.  We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.  For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Doxology

Praise God from whom all blessings flow,

Praise Him all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host,

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Accept, O Lord, our thanks and praise for all that you have done for us. We thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love.

We thank you for the blessing of family and friends, and for the loving care which surrounds us on every side.

We thank you for setting us at tasks which demand our best efforts, and for leading us to accomplishments which satisfy and delight us.

We thank you also for those disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone.

Above all, we thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the truth of his Word and the example of his life; for his steadfast obedience, by which he overcame temptation; for his dying, through which he overcame death; and for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom.

Grant us the gift of your Spirit, that we may know him and make him known; and through him, at all times and in all places, may give thanks to you in all things. Amen.
